Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of popping by Macs after work to check out their festive menu
Here goes my thoughts —-
Beef Clubhouse Burger: At first glance, the burger served up looked pretty dry and uninviting, except for the perfectly glazed bun shining before my eyes. However, the taste turned out pretty good – but nothing more special than your typical cheese burger. I did not quite fancy the sauce, nor the 2 pieces of rather synthetic looking bacon.
Grilled Chicken Clubhouse Burger: Not a fan of this burger – somehow the chicken had a particular flavor/taste that did not quite appeal to my taste bud. The 2 slices of bacon did not help either. But I guess it is a matter of ‘to each his own’ because K actually took a liking for this burger
Truffled Flavoured Shaker Fries: There was much hype around the truffled fries – a dish I never fail to order at any restaurant, despite knowing full well the synthetic nature of the flavouring. Oh, blame the nose…
Mac Donald’s version of truffle flavoured fries is not quite the same as what we would expect anywhere else; the smell of the seasoning was very inviting…but upon shaking it with the fries – the result is some garlicky tasting fries with hints of truffles that is somewhat too subtle.
Nevertheless, I love my Mac D fries! So I would eat this again anyday
Coke Float: Soft serve on top of ice cold Coke – how can this ever go wrong? i’m lovin’it!
Red Velvet McFlurry with Oreo Cookie Bits: This did not taste too different from the oreo McFlurry that I know…but I guess the colours add to festive mood no doubt!
All in all, the menu did not quite impress – at least not the way Ebi burger or seaweed fries did, to me. However, it is still a great way to usher in the festive season! (Note: items available only in McDonald’s Singapore restaurants – from 26 Nov to 30 Dec.)
